Pakistan smog crisis
Smog effects looming large to kill
The UN has warned that 11 million children under five in Pakistan’s Punjab province face severe health risks due to toxic air pollution, exceeding WHO guidelines by over 100 times . Lahore’s air quality index reached a record high, forcing authorities to close primary schools for a week and impose a "green lockdown" .
Key Measures:
1-School Closures
Primary schools shut until mid-November
2-Face Masks
Mandatory for everyone in Lahore
3-Work-from-Home:50% of employees
4-Restrictions
Ban on barbecuing without filters, wedding halls to close by 10 p.m.
5-Public Gatherings
Visits to parks, zoos, and recreational places prohibited until November 17
UNICEF representative Abdullah Fadil urges urgent action to reduce pollution, citing devastating effects on children and pregnant women . The situation is critical, with 12% of deaths in children under five attributed to air pollution before this year’s record-breaking smog .
Every year it counts the days, months to acknowledge the issues but unfortunately there is no beneficial measures have been taken by the Govt of Punjab who’s chief Minister is on private mission alongwith Minister of Climate Maryam Aurangzeib so who’s going to deal and what are the strategies except death of common citizens who are already having many issues in their private life.
The Punjab Govt has shut down the schools
Is that enough to deal with smog ?
As UN has warned to take measures ling term to deal with it .No matter what the Govt is or will be but atleast now under the supervision of CM Maryam Nawaz ,she has to take it seriously ,and to work on it .
Climate change is the biggest Problem left in this earth for the survival of humans .
Take it serious and follow basic instruction and drink more water ,get hydrated and wear mask.
